Whether you loved them or hated them, the Jordan 15 Obsidian is on it’s way back to the shelves. 17 years after its initial release Jordan decided it was time to release a new retro sneaker.

When you hear that a sneaker is retro, that only means that it has been released before. In recent years Jordan has been releasing retros at an overwhelming rate.

In December, Sneaker Bar Detroit confirmed that the Bred 13s will be releasing for the second time in 4 years.

There are many mixed feelings regarding Jordan’s 15th signature shoe. The one big critic that the silhouette receives is that Jordan never wore it on the court. The 15s were the first shoe Jordan released post retirement (The actually end). KicksOnFire posted about the possibility of the 15’s design ripping off the design of a luxury Prada shoe.

Although this is the first time the Obsidian color way has been re-released, there is a great possibility that they will not come close to selling out. In January, Jordan released the “Stealth” color way of the sneaker and they are still sitting at the retail stores.

The shoe simply is not a fan favorite. Even though this is the first time in 17 years that consumers will be able to get their hands on these, maybe the Jordan Brand should have launched another retro version of a fan favorite.

The Obsidian 15s will cost $190, and release on March 4th. You can find them at Finish Line, Foot Locker, Champs and of course Nike.

  1. I like this article, I’m replying to it while I’m wearing the stealth 15’s. These obsidian 15’s are hard to catch someone’s eye but they are a sleeper in my opinion. The comparison drawn between the 15’s and the Prada sneaker is interesting because there’s a lot of people who have probably haven’t seen the similarities in the sneaker. Nice job on providing history behind the sneaker, informing readers about this sneaker being Jordan’s first release post retirement.
